What Is Tunisian Crochet?

In Tunisian crochet you pick up a row of loops onto a long hook, then work them off again on the way back, so each row has a forward and a return pass. The Tunisian knit stitch is worked through the front of each vertical bar, which makes small V shapes that look just like knitting. The result is a thick, stretchy fabric that is perfect for headbands.

How the Headband Is Made

1. First color: work a strip of Tunisian knit stitch in the first color.
2. Second color: switch to the second color for the other half.
3. Twist and join: the ends are joined so the two colors cross at the front, creating the twist. The video shows this step slowly.
