How to Grow Air Plants, Tillandsia

Tillandsias, commonly known as air plants, are a fun, easy, and unique plant to grow at home. In this video, you will learn basic care and watering tips to keep your air plants happy and healthy.

Tillandsias grow differently than most other houseplants, so they can be confusing for beginners. In fact, they are very hardy and require much less attention than other indoor plants.

These tropical plants are epiphytes, which means they don't need soil. The tiny flakes on the leaves, called trichomes, absorb water and nutrients directly from the air and protect the plant from the scorching sun. The "roots" of plants are used only for fixation and do not absorb water or nutrients like land plants.
