How Much Does a DIY Pergola Cost? (Part 2)
Hello, how are you today? Welcome to our blog About Home. We hope you are very well and looking forward to a new post, project, or tutorial for your home.
Today we want to share with you something special:
Pergolas vs. Other Outdoor Structures
Traditional pergolas, which often stretch for miles to shade horse riding trails, have been modernized and adapted for residential use. Backyard pergolas are shorter and look more like outdoor patio structures than long walkway decks.
But pergolas still share the same spirit of honoring flora and eventual wildlife visitors. Adorned with creeping plants like jasmine and even lighting, the backyard pergolas provide a wonderful space to relax, dine, socialize, or just get some rest.
- Easier to build than many other types of external structures.
- Encourages the growth of low plants
- Low maintenance
- It does not protect from the sun or rain (although sun protection can be added)
- Naked pergolas can get ugly
- hard to move
A patio cover is a structure attached to the house that provides full coverage for the area below. The roof is generally held at a low angle. Since one side of the patio deck is supported by the house, the other side is supported by two or more posts.
A gazebo is a large, free-standing external structure, usually round, hexagonal, or octagonal. Its roof is usually sloped at a high angle. Inside, the gazebo is protected from the elements and may have permanent accessories, such as benches.
Built over an open-air path, a gazebo is a short, arched, or flat hallway intended for growing short plants. A gazebo can provide a beautiful entrance to a property.
A trellis is a flat, ladder-shaped garden structure that attaches to the side of a house, shed or fence. A truss is simple and inexpensive to build. A trellis is only for plant growth; it does not provide shelter.
