New Zealand is the most exciting destination we have ever visited.

Fly a Stunt Plane
If you want the adventure of a lifetime, head to Abel Tasman for the best flying lesson you've ever had.
U Fly Extreme is a one-of-a-kind operation in which owner Vincent takes lovers of extreme adventures on a flight in the open cockpit of the Pitts Special S2A.
What is special about this flight compared to other flying lessons? When you take control of the aircraft, you are making your plane fly upside down and spinning.
As he begins his steep climb into the air, Vincent hands him the controls and guides him by moving the joystick from left to right.
Soon you will be spiraling and turning in the air at 4,000 feet! When I did that, I couldn't stop laughing and screaming with joy. It was the most exciting and exciting experience of my life.
Skydiving
Deb piloted his own stunt plane on Abel Tasman; I jumped out of one.
You can skydive in many places in New Zealand, including Queenstown and Taupo, but Abel Tasman is the only place where you can jump from 5,000 meters.
I plunged into the ground in an 80-second free fall before the parachute was released.
The first 10 seconds of the jump were disorienting and full of chaos, but the next 70 seconds were mind-blowing.
The most amazing thing about skydiving is that you feel like you are flying. Reaching 195 mph put me at terminal speed. It was the biggest stir I've ever felt in my life.
Paragliding
Paragliding is the best alternative to skydiving.
After taking the Skyline Gondola to the top of a mountain overlooking Queenstown, we met up with G Force Paragliding to get ready and meet our pilot.
Everything moves fast in paragliding. Once you're hooked, you run down the side of a cliff and let the wind carry you high.
It is a spectacular sensation riding the waves of the air. If you're up for it, your pilot will try out some creepy tricks too.
When the moment came, we began to swing in the air like a pendulum.
The G-force held us in place as we rolled back and forth and upside down.
The landing was smooth, but the excitement was extreme.
Bungee Jumping
A thrill-seeker can't leave New Zealand without taking a Bungy jump.
The sport was invented in New Zealand by AJ Hackett, and if you've ever wondered whether to spell bungee or bungy, look no further. If the inventor spells bungy, it is bungy.
There are several places in New Zealand to jump. If extreme is what you crave, give Nevis Bungy a try.
The 40-minute drive from Queenstown takes you down a winding mountain road.
Once you reach the top, you will take a small tram to the center of a 440-foot-tall canyon, where you will jump from a hanging gondola.
The music is booming and once you've crossed the unsafe zone, there is no turning back. It takes all your willpower to jump, but once you do, there is no thrill like this on Earth.
After the first dive, the bungy picks it up and throws it back into the sky.
Then you start to fall again. You cannot forget to pull the tear rope at your feet in the second jump; otherwise, it will be stuck upside down while being lifted. And that would be embarrassing.
Rafting
There are many places in the world to go rafting, but few, apart from New Zealand, offer the opportunity to tackle class 5 rapids.
These are the highest navigable rapids. Assembling them requires a lot of skill. When you hear the splash of water ahead, your instinct is to turn the other way.
However, once you are on the approach, there is no way to escape. Hearing our guide's commands at Rangitata Rafts kept me focused and ready.
I was scared to fly off the raft, but being tasked with concentrating on my paddles kept my nerves at bay.
When I was thrown overboard, I remembered my safety instructions and bent my legs to avoid getting caught on the rocks.
In seconds, he was back in the boat, ready to tackle another series of rapids. It was scary and exciting at the same time.
But now I have the right to brag forever (and I've lived to tell the story right here on Expedia's screen).
There are so many amazing things to do in New Zealand, and these adventures barely scratch the surface.
If you want to start with the most extreme adventures of all, this is a good place to start.
