Tips For Growing An Easter Cactus (Spring Cactus)

Do you want to add a little color to your home? The Easter cactus is a perfect choice! With flowers ranging from white to red to purple, this easy-to-grow, long-lived plant is a popular choice among newbies and experienced houseplant lovers alike.

Native to the rainforests of Brazil, this tropical cactus is known for its beautiful and prolific blooms that are produced around the Easter holidays.

Although they are part of the cacti family, Easter cacti require very different care than a typical desert cactus. They thrive in cooler temperatures, do not tolerate direct sun, and require nutrient-rich soil. Easter cacti are epiphytic cacti native to the tropical rainforests of Brazil.

As epiphytes, Easter cacti do not grow on the ground in their natural habitat but instead grow on rocks, trees, and other plants. While Easter cacti are usually grown in the ground as a houseplant, they cannot survive in dense, compacted soil and require loose potting mixes that provide adequate aeration to the roots.
