Discover The Most Incredible Things You Can Do on Your Next Trip To Nassau!
1. Experience new flavors with traditional Bahamian food tours
Learn about the history, culture, and, of course, the gastronomy of the Bahamas with Tru Bahamian Food Tours.
The island's cuisine comes from a tasty mix of influences from the Caribbean, the southern US, Africa, and the UK.
There's so much more to taste than just seafood and jerk chicken, and having a local expert is the best way to ensure that you choose the most authentic and delicious restaurants during your stay.
The most popular tour on offer is the Bites of Nassau Food and Culture Tour, a three-hour experience that takes visitors to six different locations in Nassau, all locally owned by small business owners.
Your guide will explain the history of the Bahamas and point out neighborhood street art between bites, including fried snails (pronounced "konk"), steamed chicken with peas and rice, and a tropical rum cocktail.
2. Experience the local wildlife at Ardastra Gardens
These gardens began as fertile ground for rebuilding the Bahamas' endangered flamingo population, but today the Ardastra Gardens and Wildlife Conservation Center is the only zoo in the entire country.
The park is still best known for its resident pink flamingos, but you can see more than 130 species of wildlife around the park, including wild cats, native rodents, and all kinds of tropical birds.
Feeding the lorises with your hands is always a family favorite, but the daily flamingo parade is the most prominent attraction, as the birds march and turn in unison and under your command.

In addition to the animals, you can also see some of the most spectacular foliage in the Caribbean at Ardastra.
The vibrantly colored flowers bloom year-round, protected from the strong sun thanks to the canopy overhanging the mango trees.
Ardastra is above all a center of the conversation, so you can be sure that your visit supports the local fauna and flora.
3. Climb the queen's ladder
Climb the 66 steps that connect Fort Fincastle to downtown Nassau and you'll be enchanted by the sweat and work the slaves had to do to carve the Queen's Staircase out of solid limestone.
Built between 1793 and 1794, the stairs were later named after Queen Victoria.
The stairs are a great photo opportunity and of course provide access to historic Fort Fincastle, which sits on the highest point on New Providence Island, Bennett's Hill.
The fort is open daily for guided tours, but don't forget to tip your guides.
