Rushia lineolata 'Nana', commonly known as Star Carpet Dwarf, has defeated most other turf alternatives by a landslide. It can withstand temperatures up to around 120 degrees. F, so for you in these warmer climates, this is for you! It is also resistant up to about 25 degrees. F.
Ruschia is easy to plant and even easier to care for. Buy Ruschia in flats and plant them about 6 inches apart and in about 5 months you will have a "carpet" full of grass to run and play on! It's also great for pets!
Ruschia needs a fair amount of water once established (more on the video!) but after several weeks it is incredibly drought tolerant, only requiring watering every 7-10 days in the warmer months.

Be sure to prepare your area well and correct the soil if necessary. Make sure the soil is well-drained. Fertilizer isn't always necessary when planting Ruschia, but it does help keep the foliage super vibrant. Use a 15-15-15 fertilizer.
