The Best Way To Make Great Garden Edging

The simplest and most subtle landscape border that effectively separates a lawn from a garden is 4-inch deep steel, aluminum, or plastic strips.
Plan to place the edge of the garden with the top edge about 1/2 inch above ground level to maintain separation between the lawn and the garden and prevent roots from crossing over.
This makes the edge of the garden almost invisible and allows you to cut the grass right on top of it. However, be aware that the top of the thin edge of the lawn can damage bare feet. After cutting it, be sure to round the sharp edges with a file.
