How to Grow and Care for Browallia Flowers

If you're looking for a low-maintenance annual flower in a shady location that will bloom prolifically and for a long period of time, consider browallia.

Botanically, browallia (Browallia speciosa) is a tropical perennial, but it is grown primarily as a warm-weather annual.

With bright blue, purple, and white flowers, it is a moderately fast grower with a cushion-shaped growth habit. Browallia is especially pretty when cascading down a wall, and its deep green foliage nicely fills a flower bed or rock garden in the summer.

Its flowers attract hummingbirds and it is a popular plant for pots and hanging baskets. Be aware that this plant can be toxic if ingested by pets.
