Growing Organic Walnut Trees

Walnuts (Juglandaceae) are deciduous trees that produce a stone fruit, or drupe, that houses edible kernels called walnuts inside their hard shells.

They belong to the same family as hickory and walnut trees, which also produce edible nuts and lumber for construction.

These popular shade trees grow to heights of more than fifty feet and can live for a hundred and fifty years. Walnut trees are monoecious, meaning they produce the male and female flowers necessary for procreation.

Trees also grow slowly, with mature trees producing edible nuts in a minimum of ten years, but if you're patient, you'll have an amazing addition to your garden! Check out the video below to learn how to grow these fantastic trees.
