How to Grow Carrots From Seed Using Plastic Bags

We all want a jump in the growing season and there are few better ways than growing a seed in a ziplock bag.

The seeds in plastic bags are kept in a mini greenhouse that keeps them moist and warm to speed up germination.

This method works very well with most vegetables, especially legumes, and can also be used for annuals and other plants.

It is very helpful, when starting with various types of seeds, to first mark the bags with a permanent marker.

You should also check the seed packets to see if they need light or dark to germinate.

Then moisten the absorbent material. Dampen well and then squeeze out the excess water.

Lay it out on a flat surface and place the seeds on one side of the material, then fold it over. Put the seeds in the plastic bag and seal it somehow.

If the seeds need light, place them near a well-lit window. Otherwise, put them in a drawer or cupboard where it is hot.

You can use a seed germination mat if you want, as they produce a very low temperature and should not melt the bags.

In that case, place a tea towel on the mat before placing the bags on top.
