Make Your Own DIY Herb Spiral Garden

A herb spiral is a raised garden bed that is both beautiful and functional. It's perfect for small space gardens, but can also be placed in ornamental landscapes to provide fresh herbs for the kitchen. Like other types of raised beds, spiral gardens are low-maintenance spaces and their unique shape allows the gardener to plant sun-loving and shade-loving herbs in the same bed.

A spiral of grasses is highest in the middle and descends in circles to ground level. It can be made from a variety of materials, such as stone or wood, and offers different growing conditions within the same bed. Herb coils are popular in permaculture design and are constructed from local materials. You can make a spiral herb garden any size you like, but most are about six feet in diameter and two to three feet tall.
